Journalist Detained for Calling for Mass Riots
On March 9, as a result of monitoring social networks, an account with the name Daniel Zhooshbaev was discovered. This user posted materials that contained criticism of government bodies and structures. The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that the publications were also aimed at "discrediting the authorities and exacerbating the socio-political situation."
“In the comments to some posts from this account, messages were found that could potentially provoke destabilization of public order and mass riots,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized.
Based on this, the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Bishkek initiated a criminal case under Article 278 ("Calls for Mass Riots") of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Law enforcement agencies, including the State National Security Committee, identified the owner of the account, who turned out to be journalist A.A., born in 1976.
Information about the detention of journalist Altynai Arstanbekova appeared on social networks.
