Arrest of Eldar Zhakypbekov. Five more employees of the GKNB detained, six dismissed

During the investigation of the criminal case against Eldar Zhakypbekov, the former head of the Main Department of the State National Security Committee (GKNB) in Bishkek, five more individuals were detained. The Pervomaisky District Court decided to send them to the temporary detention facility of the capital's Department of Internal Affairs and to SIZO-21, according to information from the press service of the GKNB of Kyrgyzstan.

At the same time, the internal security service conducted an internal investigation, which resulted in:

six employees being dismissed from the national security agencies;
eight employees of the GKNB of the Kyrgyz Republic being temporarily suspended from their positions;
one candidate for service in the GKNB being excluded;
disciplinary actions being imposed on eight employees.

The work to identify other members of the corruption group within the GKNB continues.

It is worth noting that earlier the Military Prosecutor's Office of Kyrgyzstan initiated a criminal case against Zhakypbekov under Article 336, Part 1 "Corruption" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. He is suspected of organizing a stable group consisting of GKNB employees and civilians engaged in personal enrichment.
