The preliminary causes of the tragedy involving a 17-year-old teenager on the railway tracks of Kara-Balta – Kainy have become known.

According to information provided by the state enterprise "NC Kyrgyz Temir Zholu," the incident occurred on February 23, 2026, at 14:10 at the 3718 kilometer mark of the Kara-Balta–Kainy section, when the train driver was forced to apply emergency braking because a person was on the tracks.

According to preliminary data, citizen S.R., born in 2009, crossed the railway track, ignoring the active signals. At the crossing, the signals were functioning normally, and both motorists and pedestrians stopped, adhering to safety rules. "Despite the measures taken by the driver, a collision could not be avoided. The victim was urgently transported to the hospital, where, unfortunately, he passed away. It should be noted that the braking distance of the train is significantly longer due to its mass and technical characteristics, and therefore it is not possible to stop the train immediately. Railway tracks should only be crossed at designated locations, strictly following safety rules and avoiding being in the train movement zone," representatives of "Kyrgyz Temir Zholu" stated.
