On the Consistent Work for the Modernization of Production Complexes and Repair Base of the Structural Units of the State Enterprise "National Company 'Kyrgyz Temir Zholu'"
As part of this initiative, a phased update of the material and technical base is being carried out, including the acquisition of modern equipment and specialized systems that allow for more accurate diagnostics of malfunctions and expedite repair work while adhering to all safety standards.
The upgrade of the repair infrastructure also leads to increased productivity, improved working conditions for specialists, and reduced risks during the operation of rolling stock.
Priority Tasks of the Branch of the State Enterprise "National Company 'Kyrgyz Temir Zholu'" in the Field of Locomotive Management
The branch responsible for locomotive management plays a key role in ensuring the safe and stable operation of diesel locomotives, which directly affects the execution of freight and passenger transportation. The main goal is to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the locomotive fleet under daily operational conditions. Regular maintenance and monitoring of the technical condition of locomotives are conducted to achieve this.
Key attention is paid to train movement safety issues. Specialists from the branch develop and implement measures aimed at preventing accidents and violations, thereby ensuring the reliability of transportation. The locomotive depot performs two main functions: the operation of locomotives and their repair.
In the last five years, as part of the modernization of structural units, new stands with software have been purchased, which minimize the human factor in the repair of diesel locomotive equipment. These stands have significantly improved the quality of diagnostics and repairs of parts in the diesel, fuel, battery, electrical, and automatic brake groups. Previously, locomotives often required unscheduled repairs, but now, thanks to new technologies, such cases have significantly decreased.
In 2025, six TE33A locomotives and one TE10M were modernized, equipped with a new train control safety system called BORT. This system is characterized by low costs both in acquisition and maintenance compared to the outdated KLUB system, providing higher safety, including automatic train control and monitoring of diesel fuel consumption.
Additionally, the chemical laboratory of the FLH has updated its equipment, including a photoelectric photometer and a kinematic viscosity thermostat, which has increased the reliability of determining the quality of fuel and lubricants.
As part of the modernization project of the production complex, the branch, together with LLC "NPC Promtech," is mastering new types of repairs that were previously conducted outside the country, thanks to the acquisition of equipment for the locomotive depot.
The project aims to create a modern repair complex that will enhance the efficiency, reliability, and safety of the locomotive fleet's operation. Within its framework, the production and repair infrastructure will be updated, and new technological equipment will be introduced, allowing for comprehensive repairs of locomotives on-site and eliminating the need to send them abroad.
The project envisions the creation of an economically efficient production cycle that will provide a full range of locomotive repair services. The implementation of this project will allow:
- to conduct comprehensive repairs of locomotives at the branch, reducing dependence on contractors;
- to significantly reduce operating costs;
- to enhance the safety and reliability of transportation, minimizing unscheduled downtimes;
- to create additional jobs for the development of a skilled workforce;
- to implement modern standards of maintenance and automation.
Moreover, the project will create conditions for providing repair and maintenance services for locomotives to other countries, thanks to the availability of modern equipment and compliance with international standards.
Modernization of the Non-Destructive Testing Laboratory
In 2022, the Non-Destructive Testing Laboratory (NDT) of the ITC of the State Enterprise "National Company 'Kyrgyz Temir Zholu'" acquired three modern ultrasonic flaw detection trolleys designed for rail diagnostics. This equipment ensures high accuracy and speed of defect detection, which is critically important for train movement safety.
Since the start of operation of the flaw detection trolleys, the capabilities for detecting defects have expanded, accuracy of control has increased, and the need for repeated checks has decreased. In 2025, to update outdated equipment, the following were purchased:
- new ultrasonic flaw detection trolleys with improved software;
- a single-channel ultrasonic flaw detector for monitoring rails and switches;
- a modified eddy current flaw detector with enhanced sensitivity;
- a portable magnetic powder electromagnet for testing ferromagnetic materials.
The introduction of modern equipment contributes to improving the quality of work performed and reducing costs.
Reliable Power Supply and Communication for Railway Facilities
The branch of the State Enterprise "National Company 'Kyrgyz Temir Zholu'" responsible for power supply, signaling, and communication ensures the reliable operation of signaling devices (electromechanical switch drives, traffic lights, and automatic blocking) and all railway facilities. A phased replacement of outdated equipment with modern microprocessor devices is underway.
In 2024, to enhance the safety and efficiency of the signaling system on the Bishkek-2 – Kant section, a new microprocessor semi-automatic blocking system was put into operation. Energy-saving LED technologies have also been implemented at the stations, significantly reducing electricity consumption.
Branch for Wagon Management - Ensuring Quality Repairs
The branch of the State Enterprise "National Company 'Kyrgyz Temir Zholu'" for wagon management is responsible for the maintenance and repair of passenger and freight cars. A key condition for successful operation is the rhythmic release of cars from repair, achieved through effective organization of production processes.
As part of the branch's modernization, the following measures have been implemented:
1. Installation of equipment for mechanized disassembly and assembly of freight car bogies.
2. Acquisition of the "Trionfatore" lathe, which allows processing wheel pairs twice as fast as its predecessors.
3. Introduction of new stands for checking and diagnosing air distributors.
The transition to modern equipment has significantly increased throughput and reduced processing time.
Modernization has also affected luxury and VIP passenger cars to enhance the attractiveness of railway transportation. From 2022 to 2025, six such cars were updated, contributing to the attraction of tourists.
Updating the Fleet of Equipment and Machinery in the Track Management Branch
The Track Management Branch of the State Enterprise "National Company 'Kyrgyz Temir Zholu'" is actively working on modernizing its production base. In recent years, the fleet of machinery and equipment has been significantly updated. Since 2024, a phased replacement of tools and equipment has been underway, resulting in a 102% increase in gravel production compared to the previous year.
In 2025, a new screening machine was installed, which increased sorting speed and product quality, and a crusher was acquired, allowing for record production levels.
To enhance mobility and productivity, JAC double-cab trucks have been purchased, significantly improving labor organization and reducing work completion time.
In 2023, the pneumatic hammer MA-4129 was put into operation, enabling the forge shop to not only repair but also manufacture new parts for track machinery. This significantly reduced the waiting time for spare parts and improved tool quality, which, in turn, reduces dependence on external suppliers.
