Two Residents of Osh Were Robbed: Fake Policeman Detained
According to the press service of the Internal Affairs Department of the city of Osh, the actions of the perpetrator were uncovered during operational activities organized by the criminal investigation department.
According to the information received, on February 2, 2026, at around 8:00 PM, a temporary resident of Osh received a call inviting him to the "Deluxe" hotel. Upon arrival at the location, the unknown individual, without presenting identification, claimed to be from the "Morality" department of the Osh City Police and demanded 15,000 soms. He threatened arrest for a period of 3 to 5 days, using obscene language, and, intimidating the victim, took the specified amount from him. Moreover, he insisted on receiving 10,000 soms from him every week.
Based on this incident, a criminal case was initiated under Article 208, Part 2, Clause 2 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning extortion, and investigative actions were started.
Another similar case was recorded on the night of January 31 to February 1, 2026, at approximately 12:16 AM in an apartment on A. Shakirov Street. Here, the suspect, introducing himself as "Ruslan," deceived and extorted 20,000 soms from citizen A. uulu J., born in 1990, threatening arrest in case of refusal.
Despite the victim reporting a lack of funds, the fraudster snatched a wallet from his hands, seizing 7,700 soms, and demanded that he find additional money, after which he fled the scene.
A criminal case was also initiated regarding this fact under Article 206, Part 3, Clause 3 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, related to robbery.
As a result of operational activities, a 30-year-old resident of the Kara-Suu district of the Osh region, K.N., was detained and placed in the temporary detention facility of the Internal Affairs Department of the city of Osh. It has been established that this individual had previously had legal issues. During the initial investigation, it was revealed that he committed the crimes by posing as a "police officer" and intimidating citizens,” the statement noted.
