
According to the investigation, officers from the criminal investigation department of the Osh police identified and detained a man who, posing as a police officer, attempted to extort money from local residents by threatening arrest.
The incident occurred on February 2, 2026, around 8:00 PM, when a temporary resident of the city received a phone call inviting him to the “Deluxe” hotel. Upon arrival, he was met by an unknown individual who, without any identification, introduced himself as an employee of the “Morality” department of the Osh police and demanded 15,000 soms, threatening arrest for a period of 3 to 5 days. Under psychological pressure, the suspect managed to obtain the demanded amount and also insisted on receiving 10,000 soms weekly.


A criminal case has been initiated under Article 208, Part 2, Clause 2 (extortion) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
A similarly alarming incident occurred on the night of January 31 to February 1 at 00:16 on A. Shakirov Street in Osh. The suspect, introducing himself as Ruslan and a police officer, demanded 20,000 soms from citizen A. uulu J., born in 1990, threatening detention. The victim's lack of money did not deter the criminal, who snatched the victim's wallet and openly stole 7,700 soms, while demanding the remaining amount be found.
A criminal case has also been initiated regarding this incident under Article 206, Part 3, Clause 3 (robbery) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
As a result of operational measures, a resident of the Kara-Suu district of the Osh region, born in 1993, who had previous convictions, was detained. He has been placed in the temporary detention facility of the Osh police. According to preliminary data, the crimes were committed by intimidating citizens using pretense as representatives of law enforcement agencies.
Investigative actions are ongoing.
