The detention became possible thanks to cooperation with Interpol
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic confirmed the information about the detention of citizen Ы.М. on the territory of the United States. This person had been on the international wanted list through Interpol.
The detention was carried out in accordance with an Interpol "red notice" issued in 2023. He is accused of large-scale fraud.
According to the investigation data, the detainee, acting in collusion with a high-ranking manager of an oil refinery, created a scheme that resulted in the theft of more than 1,500 tons of fuel oil. The damage from these actions is estimated at 51.78 million soms.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that the successful operation is the result of effective cooperation between law enforcement agencies of Kyrgyzstan and the USA in the fight against transnational crime.
Currently, the issue of extraditing the detainee is being considered.
