The press service of the Talas region's Internal Affairs Department reported the arrest of a citizen who had been wanted for a quarter of a century.

According to available information, a criminal case against K.K., born in 1972 and residing in the Talas district, was initiated on December 6, 2000, under Article 129, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic (as amended in 1997) for "rape".

On December 11 of the same year, the Talas district prosecutor's office decided to detain K.K. and announced him as wanted, issuing the corresponding order for his arrest.

Subsequently, taking into account updates to the Criminal Code, the case was reclassified under Article 154, Part 2, Clause 3, which pertains to "rape with a threat of violence dangerous to life or health".

Since the announcement of his wanted status on February 18, 2000, K.K. remained at large for 25 years. As a result of operational actions by the Talas Regional Internal Affairs Department, he was arrested in June 2024 in Yekaterinburg, Russia, after which the extradition process began.

On February 1, 2026, K.K. was delivered to Kyrgyzstan, handed over to the investigative service of the Talas Regional Internal Affairs Department, and placed in the temporary detention facility of the Talas city Internal Affairs Department, as reported in the official information.

Currently, investigative actions regarding the case are ongoing.
