On January 19, the press service of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) reported on the illegal activities of the rehabilitation center "Path to Life," located in Bishkek.

This center operated as a private medical-psychiatric institution and claimed its mission was to treat people suffering from various addictions.

The investigation established that most of the center's staff were individuals who had previously suffered from addictions and lacked medical education. Under the direction of the management, they conducted so-called "pseudo-psychiatric" procedures and conversations.

The GKNB noted that in cases of acute psychological crises among patients, during periods of "breakdowns," cruel and humiliating methods of intervention were employed.
According to intelligence services, physical force and special devices were used for "subduing," including beds with restraining straps, objects resembling clubs and bats, electric shock devices, gags, and other means, which led to physical injuries and serious psychological damage.

Patients who did not comply were placed in so-called isolation cells, completely cut off from contact with the outside world (with barred and darkened windows). They were forced to wear diapers, denied access to toilets and personal hygiene products, and kept in such conditions for 7-8 days, the press service clarified.

The investigation also revealed that the illegal activities of the center brought significant income to its owners: the cost of "rehabilitation" for one patient was from 80,000 soms per month. Relatives of the patients who paid for the services were not informed about the real "treatment" methods used at the center, which were illegal and cruel.

Furthermore, the center lacked a system for separating patients based on the presence of venereal and infectious diseases (HIV, tuberculosis, fungal infections, syphilis, herpes, hepatitis), which created a risk of infection transmission, as everyone was in the same conditions without the possibility of avoiding contact with carriers.

During the investigation, physical evidence was collected.

In the temporary detention facility of the Bishkek Department of Internal Affairs, individuals I.R.K., M.Dzh.N., E.A.V., M.I.M., M.V.A., T.Ch.A., K.K.I., and Kh.S.V. were detained.

The GKNB urges anyone who has suffered from the actions of those detained to contact the duty unit of the GKNB of Chui region at the phone number 0 (312) 53-03-01.

Please note, the video and photos contain scenes of violence and brutality.
