The State Committee for National Security (GKNB) has shut down the illegally operating rehabilitation center "Path to Life," located in Bishkek. Despite being positioned as a clinic for treating addictions, it became a place where patients were systematically abused, as reported by the press service of the state committee.
The investigation established that the center's operations were in violation of the law. The processes were led by former addicts who lacked the appropriate medical education and licenses. Instead of professional treatment, they employed so-called "pseudo-psychiatric" procedures.
The following brutal methods were used to "subdue" patients:

The center also completely disregarded medical safety standards. Patients suffering from serious infectious diseases (such as HIV, tuberculosis, syphilis, hepatitis) were placed in common areas with others, creating a risk of mass infection.
The cost of a month of "treatment" reached 80,000 soms or more, while the families of the patients were unaware of the actual methods their loved ones were subjected to. During the searches, law enforcement found evidence confirming the involvement of active medical workers in this scheme.

Eight suspects were taken to the temporary detention facility of the capital's Department of Internal Affairs.
- The GKNB urges anyone who has suffered from the actions of the staff at this center to contact the duty service of the state committee in the Chuy region at the phone number: 0312530301.
