Bishkek and Moscow aim to increase trade to $5 billion. Mamataliyev met with Matviyenko

On March 26, a meeting took place in Moscow between the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Marlen Mamataliyev and Valentina Matviyenko, the Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation. This was reported by the press service of the parliament.

During the meeting, various aspects of bilateral cooperation were discussed, as well as initiatives to strengthen inter-parliamentary ties.

Matviyenko emphasized that Mamataliyev's first visit to Russia is a testament to the mutual desire to strengthen relations.

“We highly value your first visit as Speaker to the Russian Federation. This confirms our shared desire to develop inter-state and inter-parliamentary relations,” she noted.

The Chairwoman of the Federation Council added that active political contacts between the countries contribute to the positive dynamics of Kyrgyz-Russian relations. In particular, after Vladimir Putin's visit to Bishkek, the status of bilateral cooperation was elevated to the level of deepened alliance and strategic partnership.

She also highlighted the importance of inter-parliamentary interaction and support from state leaders.

“We hope for new ideas and more concrete cooperation that will contribute to the development of the entire spectrum of bilateral relations,” she added.

Matviyenko singled out economic interaction, pointing out the need to harmonize legislation to create favorable conditions for business.

Marlen Mamataliyev, for his part, noted the importance of strengthening strategic relations with Russia, as well as developing long-standing friendly ties.

He emphasized the significance of active cooperation both at the bilateral level and within specialized committees and international organizations.

In addition, the Speaker briefly discussed the results of the recent parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan, noting the increase in the number of women deputies: now out of 90 deputies, 31 are women.

Mamataliyev also highlighted the importance of developing trade, economic, and investment cooperation, reminding of the goal set by the heads of state to increase trade turnover to 5 billion dollars. He noted significant potential in the areas of energy, agriculture, tourism, and transport.

Furthermore, he paid attention to the issues of labor migration, outlining the difficulties faced by Kyrgyz citizens in Russia and proposing ways to address them, considering the allied relations between the two countries.
