During his official visit to Moscow, the chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh, Marlen Mamataliyev, held a meeting with Valentina Matviyenko, the chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia. During the discussions, the parties emphasized the importance of deepening Kyrgyz-Russian relations and outlined steps to harmonize legislation with the aim of achieving a trade turnover of 5 billion dollars, as reported by the press service of the Jogorku Kenesh.

During the conversation, Marlen Mamataliyev shared the results of the recent parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan, noting that in the new composition of the Jogorku Kenesh, women occupy 31 out of 90 seats, which indicates a growth in their political influence.

Valentina Matviyenko positively assessed these changes and emphasized the significance of inter-parliamentary relations for creating a favorable business climate, as well as for development in the fields of energy, tourism, and transport.

The chairman also paid attention to the issues faced by Kyrgyz citizens in Russia, proposing specific solutions based on the allied status of the two countries.

The chairwoman of the Federation Council expressed readiness for active cooperation and the search for new ideas to strengthen bilateral relations.


The parties agreed on the need to activate the work of the relevant committees to implement the task of doubling the trade turnover, with investment cooperation and joint projects in the agricultural sector identified as key areas for growth.

Earlier, Marlen Mamataliyev and other deputies held meetings with compatriots in Moscow, familiarized themselves with the tests for migrant children when enrolling in schools, and discussed issues with the chairman of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin.
