In Bishkek, in the Lenin district, the 102nd municipal territorial administration is organizing the preparation of sumolek in honor of the celebration of Nowruz.
According to tradition, before starting to cook the main dish of Nowruz, they first prepare boorsoks.
After that, women in the elechek, while expressing good wishes and receiving blessings, begin to place the ingredients for sumolek into the cauldron.
In the cauldron, they first poured the juice of sprouted wheat, and then, according to tradition, added 41 stones to the bottom.
“Each time, while adding ingredients and performing any work, wishes are expressed. People wish for peace, well-being, abundance, and prosperity,” shared Kyialbyubu Alymbaeva, a resident of Bishkek.
As Anarkul Kasymova, head of the 102nd municipal territorial administration of the Lenin district, told, this is the first time they are cooking sumolek.
“This is a joyful day for us. We are excited and plan to continue this tradition every year, teaching young girls the art of making sumolek,” noted Kasymova.
It is worth noting that during these days, sumolek is also prepared in various corners of the country in honor of Nowruz.
