This year in Naryn, in honor of the celebration of Nowruz, a republican competition "Best Sumolok" will take place.
The event is organized by the public organization "Kyrgyz Birimdik". Representatives from all districts of the Naryn region will participate, simultaneously cooking 40 cauldrons of sumolok — a traditional festive dish.
Dana Abdybekova, chairperson of the public organization "Kyrgyz Birimdik", shared that the competition is organized with the intention of supporting peace, development, and abundance for the residents of Tenir-Tuu, who live in challenging climatic conditions. The winner will receive a cash prize of 100,000 soms, while prizes of 50,000 and 30,000 soms are allocated for the second and third places, respectively.
She also added that all participants will not leave empty-handed; each team will receive consolation prizes ranging from 10,000 to 15,000 soms.
The preparation of sumolok will begin on March 20 in the "Tian-Shan" park in Naryn and will be accompanied by a cultural program and festive events.
