Kyrgyzstan to Attract 1.5 Billion Yen from Japan for Energy Sector Development. Law Signed

The President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, has signed a law concerning the ratification of the Exchange Notes between the Government of Japan and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic. These documents, which were signed on December 12, 2025, in Bishkek, relate to the project "Strengthening the Capacity of the Training Center for the Operation and Maintenance of the Electric Network." The law was approved by the Jogorku Kenesh on February 26, 2026.

The adopted law will allow the commencement of internal procedures necessary for the agreement to come into force.

The Exchange Notes and Grant Agreement foresee the allocation by the Japanese government of 1,535,000,000 (one billion five hundred thirty-five million) yen. These funds will be directed towards the modernization of the training and material base of the Training Center of the OJSC "National Electric Network of Kyrgyzstan," which will help improve the qualification and retraining of specialists in the field of electric power, ensuring the reliable and stable operation of the country's electrical networks.
