A tragic event occurred in Bishkek: Kubanychbek Kapalov, who held the position of deputy head of the bailiff service under the General Prosecutor's Office of Kyrgyzstan, took his own life.
According to information from the capital's Department of Internal Affairs, the incident took place on March 13. The man shot himself in a car parked near one of the banquet halls on Kozhomberdieva Street.
During the inspection of the crime scene, law enforcement officers discovered the body of K.K., born in 1981, with a gunshot wound in the cabin of a GAC vehicle.
Several items were seized at the scene, including a smoothbore shotgun "Izh-18" caliber 12 mm, 13 cartridges, a shell casing, two mobile phones (iPhone-15 and Redmi), a suicide note, and other physical evidence.
Preliminary results of the forensic examination showed that the deceased had gunshot wounds in the chest area. A forensic medical examination has been appointed for a more accurate determination of the nature and extent of the injuries.
According to preliminary data, the police suggest that financial problems and the man's debts may have been the cause of the tragedy.
In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 128, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan. Necessary investigative actions are currently being conducted.
The bailiff service under the General Prosecutor's Office of the Kyrgyz Republic confirmed that on March 13, 2026, a report was received at the Lenin District Department of Internal Affairs about the discovery of K. Kapalov's body with a gunshot wound in a passenger car in the village of Baytik.
On March 14, 2026, a criminal case was initiated regarding this fact, and investigative and operational activities aimed at fully and objectively clarifying all circumstances of the incident are currently underway.
According to preliminary data, the incident is not related to K. Kapalov's professional activities. An internal investigation has also been initiated to examine all factors that contributed to this tragedy.
Representatives of the public and the media are urged to refrain from premature conclusions and to wait for the completion of the investigation and official findings.
