The premiere of the play "Oturgučtar," based on Eugene Ionesco's play "The Chairs," will take place on March 13, 14, and 15 at 19:00 at the A. Umuraliev Bishkek City Drama Theater.
According to the theater, the original version of the play was written in 1951, and Ionesco himself described it as a tragic farce. This work has become a symbol of the theater of the absurd, staged on stages around the world, and has achieved cult status.
"A chair is what remains of a person when he temporarily leaves it. The chair retains the warmth and shape of the body, but without the person, it has no meaning," Ionesco described his work.
For the first time, the play will be presented in the Kyrgyz language by the honored cultural worker of the Kyrgyz Republic, poetess Alymkan Degenbaeva.
The director of the play is Chagalak Zamirbekov, and the set design and costumes were developed by Zuhra Mukambetova. The choreography was prepared by the honored cultural worker of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sergey Streltzov.
"Oturgučtar" is a touching story about human loneliness, life, death, love, and old age, telling about two people isolated from the outside world. Every day they live in their memories, believing that they cannot live life better than they have managed to.
On stage, the audience will see talented actors from the theater, Nakynai Dykhanova and Ruslan Orozakunov, who will masterfully convey the last day of the heroes' lives, surrounded by chairs.
They wait for and meet invisible guests, gossip, dance, and flirt with an audience that is visible only to them. In one evening, they relive their lives, trying to answer eternal questions about the meaning of existence. The play will combine dark humor with touching moments, and its comedy and sincerity will attract the audience's attention.
