At the Arsen Umuraliev City Drama Theater in Bishkek, audiences will be able to see a new interpretation of Eugène Ionesco's absurdist play "The Chairs," titled "Oturguçtar." This long-awaited premiere, as reported by the theater's press service, will be the first in the Kyrgyz language.

Created in 1951 and characterized by the author as a tragic farce, this play has become an icon of the theater of the absurd and has gained recognition in various countries.
Alimkan Degenbaeva, a distinguished figure in the culture of the Kyrgyz Republic, will present the work for the first time in a Kyrgyz translation.
The direction of the performance is by Chagaldaq Zamirbekov, while the set design and costumes are developed by Zukhra Mukambetova. The choreography is by Sergey Streltzov, also a distinguished figure in the culture of Kyrgyzstan.

The plot of the play touches on simple yet profound themes—life, loneliness, love, old age, and death. The main characters, an old man and an old woman, experience their last day, awaiting unseen guests, and re-evaluate their lives in search of the meaning of human existence.

Audiences will be delighted by the performances of talented artists: Nakynai Dykhanova and the honored artist of the KR Ruslan Orozakunov. Their mastery on stage, surrounded by chairs, creates a unique atmosphere of black humor, comedy, and sincere sadness.

The premiere is scheduled for March 13, 14, and 15 at the address: Chuy Avenue, 28, Bishkek.
