During a live broadcast of the Ala-Tuu Live program, Zhanibek Kerimaliev, the First Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan, spoke about the upcoming agro-industrial forum "Agrodialog-2026." He emphasized that to reduce pasture degradation, it is not advisable to increase livestock numbers, but rather to improve their quality.
According to him, the problem of pasture degradation remains a serious challenge for the country. Experts estimate that increasing the share of high-yield breeding animals could reduce the load on pastures by 5%. This means that maintaining a smaller number of more productive livestock, both for meat and dairy purposes, is more feasible from both an economic and ecological standpoint.
As part of these efforts, high-quality breeding seeds such as Aberdeen Angus, Simmental, and Swedish breeds have been imported into the republic. The seed material is distributed among farmers with the help of veterinary and technical specialists, and consulting support is provided within the framework of the breeding livestock development program.
After the autumn period, an analysis of the growth and productivity of the new breeds is planned, which will allow for the assessment of the project's effectiveness.
The ministry emphasizes that the development of breeding livestock is a strategic step that contributes to the preservation of pastures and increases economic efficiency in agriculture.
