- On the air of the radio, former Minister of Transport Jamshitbek Kalilov emphasized the importance of using quality road materials, including stone-mastic asphalt and concrete, in the construction of highways.

According to Kalilov, the technology of stone-mastic asphalt was first implemented in Kyrgyzstan by specialists from the PII "Kyrgyzdortransproekt." The first section where this surface was applied was laid in 2016. Over the ten years of operation, including in challenging mountainous conditions, this section has not even required average repairs, he noted.

Kalilov also pointed out that under normal conditions, average road repairs are already needed after 10 years; however, in this case, the surface retains its operational characteristics. This is due to the fact that the service life of stone-mastic asphalt and concrete is 2.5 times longer than that of traditional asphalt.

Additionally, the former minister criticized the quality of some urban roads, where, in his opinion, only the top layer is used without the necessary materials, creating an illusion of repair.

An important point he raised is road safety. Kalilov called for the establishment of a separate service within the Ministry of Transport responsible for auditing road safety. This structure should operate already at the design stage of roads and during their operation to minimize the number of traffic accidents.

As an example, he cited the North-South highway, where landslides and road surface destruction are recorded. In Kalilov's opinion, timely audits during the construction phase could facilitate the implementation of protective galleries and prevent emergency situations.
