The Jogorku Kenesh approved in the third reading a $30 million OPEC loan for sustainable development

At today's meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, held on February 4, 2026, the deputies adopted a bill concerning the ratification of the Credit Agreement. This agreement, signed on September 22, 2025, in Bishkek, is related to the "First Program for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth" and was developed in collaboration with the OPEC Fund for International Development.

According to the terms of this credit agreement, the OPEC Fund for International Development provides budget support to the Kyrgyz Republic. The main objective of these funds is to assist in the socio-economic development of the country. The loan of 30 million dollars will be used to ensure sustainable and equitable energy supply, improve social services, enhance climate resilience, as well as strengthen financial stability and create a more favorable business environment. The loan term is 20 years, including a 5-year grace period with an interest rate of 1.25%.
