The Jogorku Kenesh approved in the second reading a $30 million OPEC loan for sustainable development

At today's meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, held on January 29, deputies discussed and approved a bill concerning the ratification of the Credit Agreement "First Program for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth." This document was signed on September 22, 2025, in Bishkek between the Kyrgyz Republic and the OPEC Fund for International Development.

According to the terms of the agreement, the OPEC Fund for International Development will provide budget support aimed at promoting the socio-economic development of the country. Among the main objectives are ensuring sustainable and equitable energy supply, improving the quality of social services, enhancing climate resilience, as well as strengthening financial stability and improving the business environment in Kyrgyzstan. The financing will amount to 30 million dollars for a period of 20 years, including a 5-year grace period, at an interest rate of 1.25%.
