"This was our initiative." Kyrgyzstan has agreed with the EAEU countries on a quota for the preferential import of electric vehicles up to 15,000 units.
According to him, in December 2025, Kyrgyzstan raised the issue of difficulties arising from the supply of electric vehicles and hybrids at a preferential rate. Previously, there was a limited benefit, but this year the republic requested an increase in the quota to 15,000 vehicles. This proposal was agreed upon with other member states of the Union, and the benefit will now apply to both fully electric and hybrid vehicles.
“We initiated this process ourselves. The demand for electric vehicles in the market is growing, and now a decision has been made: this year, 15,000 vehicles can be imported at a preferential rate,” noted Kanybek uulu Elimbek.
Additionally, the implementation of a navigation seal system was also discussed at the press conference. The head of the department reported that from February 11, 2026, their use will begin for certain categories of goods, including alcoholic and tobacco products, as well as clothing and footwear from the light industry.
These seals will ensure complete tracking of cargo, and their installation will be carried out by the state operator of the customs infrastructure. In the future, there are plans to expand the list of controlled goods, with agreements already reached with Russia and Kazakhstan regarding timber products and other categories.
