The Ministry of Natural Resources has been designated responsible for the storage and disposal of outdated pesticides.
This decision has been made to protect the health of citizens and the environment, as well as to enhance the efficiency of hazardous waste management. It also aligns with Kyrgyzstan's international obligations related to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants.
In connection with the new tasks, amendments have been made to the Regulations of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, which expand the powers of the agency. The ministry is now officially tasked with ensuring the safe storage and disposal of the specified hazardous waste.
Additionally, the ministry will be tasked with attracting international investments for the disposal of outdated pesticides and the reclamation of contaminated lands.
The implementation of this resolution will take place within the approved staffing levels of the ministry and will be financed from the republican budget, as well as from other sources that do not contradict the legislation.
The resolution will come into effect seven days after its official publication.
