In order to attract experienced contractors, the project was divided into three lots, and after conducting international tenders, contractors were selected for all areas:
- The DEC–SM consortium (People's Republic of China / Republic of Korea) is responsible for lots No. 1 and No. 2;
- Lot No. 3 was awarded to Sinohydro Bureau 16 (People's Republic of China).
In 2025, as part of the preparation for the second hydro unit of the Kambar-Ata HPP-2, the following works were completed:
Field coordination meetings were held with the participation of all contractors and consultants.
The preparation and planning of key construction sites were completed, including areas for equipment placement, offices, and temporary housing.
Concrete work for the foundations of office and residential buildings of the contracting organizations was completed, thereby ensuring conditions for the permanent stay of employees.
The installation of metal structures for office and residential buildings was started, including load-bearing elements and roofing structures.
Technical inspections of the water conduit for hydro unit No. 2 and the compensator for hydro unit No. 1 were conducted in collaboration with design organizations.
Preparatory work was initiated for the transition to the main stage of construction and installation of the second hydro unit.
