According to the UAE law enforcement agencies, two Uzbeks died as a result of the incident: one was killed on the spot from a stab wound, while the other fell into a coma and later died in the hospital.
The Dubai Prosecutor's Office clarified that the conflict between the two groups arose against the backdrop of a long-standing personal dispute. The case was referred to the prosecutor's office for further investigation.
On April 25 of last year, Uzbek diplomats held a meeting with representatives of the Dubai Criminal Investigation Department, after which it became known that 15 citizens of Uzbekistan had been detained in connection with the case, and investigative actions were ongoing.
The UAE authorities had previously noted that the increasing number of offenses involving Uzbeks abroad could negatively affect the visa-free regime in place between the two countries.
The Azattyk Asia publication previously reported that after the murder of a rabbi from Israel by citizens of Uzbekistan in Dubai in November 2024, the authorities of Abu Dhabi banned many men from Uzbekistan from entering the country, sending them back. At the end of March last year, three Uzbeks found guilty of this murder were sentenced to death.
