According to information provided by the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Akhror Burkhanov, a court in the UAE has issued a verdict in the case of a mass brawl that occurred in Dubai. As a result, eight Uzbekistan citizens were sentenced to life imprisonment, while one received a 25-year prison term.

The incident, which took place in April 2025 at a gas station, resulted in the deaths of two citizens of Uzbekistan. One of them died on the spot from a stab wound, while the other fell into a coma and later died in the hospital.

According to the Dubai prosecutor's office, the conflict occurred between two familiar groups and was triggered by a long-standing personal dispute. Law enforcement identified the participants in the incident through surveillance camera footage and eyewitness testimonies, after which they were arrested in a hotel in another emirate. The case was referred to the prosecutor's office for further investigation.

On April 25 of last year, Uzbek diplomats met with the leadership of the Dubai Criminal Investigation Department to discuss the detention of 15 citizens of Uzbekistan related to this case and the ongoing investigative actions.

The UAE authorities also expressed concern that the increasing offenses involving Uzbekistan citizens abroad could negatively affect the visa-free regime between the two countries.
