The court case in the UAE concerned a mass brawl that took place in Dubai, involving citizens of Uzbekistan. According to the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Akhror Burkhanov, eight people were sentenced to life imprisonment, while one received a 25-year prison term.

Burkhanov stated that the relevant authorities and diplomatic institutions of Uzbekistan are actively working to investigate the circumstances of the case and protect the rights of their citizens.

The brawl occurred in April 2025 at a gas station in Dubai. According to local law enforcement, two Uzbeks died as a result of the incident: one received a fatal stab wound on the spot, while the second died in the hospital after a prolonged coma.

The Dubai prosecution clarified that the conflict erupted between two previously acquainted groups of people and was allegedly triggered by a long-standing personal dispute. The participants of the brawl were identified through video recordings and witnesses, after which they were detained in a hotel in a neighboring emirate. The case was referred to the prosecution for further investigation.

On April 25, 2025, Uzbek diplomats held a meeting with the leadership of the Dubai Criminal Investigation Department, during which it became known that 15 citizens of Uzbekistan had been detained and that investigative actions were ongoing.

The UAE authorities also expressed concern, stating that the increasing offenses among Uzbek citizens abroad could negatively impact the visa-free regime between the two countries.
