Commercial State Cinema. The first two pilot films will be released in theaters in 2026.
The Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic has begun implementing new approaches to support the film industry and distribute government orders. This was announced by Deputy Minister Marat Tagaev.
According to him, a special provision for these purposes was approved two months ago. As part of a pilot project, the production of two films on a commercial basis will begin by the end of 2025, with filming scheduled to be completed by mid-2026, after which the films will be released in theaters.
Tagaev also emphasized the importance of collaboration with various producers.
“There are about 80 private film studios in the country, and we are ready to provide them with the necessary support. Previously, only a small number of directors received government orders through 'Kyrgyzfilm', but now we are open to all interested parties. The monopoly of one group will no longer exist,” he stressed.
