Deputies can openly express their opinions on any issue – Speaker of the Parliament
At today's meeting of the Coordination Council of the Parliament, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, stated that deputies have the opportunity to openly express their opinions on any issues.
According to information from the press service of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, the meeting took place on January 19, and it was attended by the Speaker, his deputies, leaders of deputy groups, committee chairpersons, and staff members.
During the discussion, participants addressed several significant issues related to parliamentary activities and the legislative process, expressing a variety of proposals and opinions.
Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu emphasized that the Jogorku Kenesh represents a key branch of power in the country. He stressed: "Laws and necessary reforms for the state cannot be implemented without the consideration of the parliament. Candidates for positions in other branches of power must also receive approval after discussion in the Jogorku Kenesh. It is important for each body to clearly understand its functions and responsibilities," he noted.
Additionally, while discussing legislative initiatives, the Speaker added that relevant committees should carefully work through draft laws before they are presented for consideration by the entire parliament.
Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu also assured that the principles of openness and freedom of speech will be upheld in the Jogorku Kenesh. He noted that deputies can freely express their opinions on any issues, and all meetings will be broadcast live to a wide audience.
