Starting from September 1, 2025, Kyrgyzstan began its fourth chairmanship in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), using the motto "25 years of SCO – a place for peace and prosperity." This slogan emphasizes the country's commitment to strengthening peace, sustainable development, and economic cooperation. Key events during the chairmanship will include the SCO summit in Bishkek and the development of cultural and humanitarian ties among the member states.
At a press conference, Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev announced the main priorities set by President Sadyr Japarov for Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship in the SCO:
- Long-term stability. Kyrgyzstan intends to continue joint efforts to combat security threats to SCO countries.
- Economic cooperation. The focus will be on accelerating the establishment of effective financial mechanisms, including the SCO Development Bank, an investment fund, and a development fund.
- Transport infrastructure. Plans include creating a favorable environment for international road and rail routes using the transit potential of the member states.
- Digitalization. Kyrgyzstan will propose to hold a youth digital forum of the SCO and is ready to support initiatives for the digital transformation of the organization's members.
