The head of GAGA explained why not all planes can land in the regions of Kyrgyzstan
According to him, the average length of runways at regional airfields is approximately 1,800 meters. However, in mountainous conditions, such a size is not equivalent to a similar runway on flat terrain.
“At mountainous airfields, 1,800 meters does not correspond to 1,800 meters on flat land. The influence of the terrain on the location of the runways significantly limits the possibilities for accepting aircraft,” he noted.
Bostонов also mentioned that currently, Bombardier Q400 aircraft, which are serviced by the state airline Asman Airlines, as well as RG85 model aircraft, can land at such airfields, but not at all of them.
The head of the agency added that when repairing and restoring runways at airports in Kyrgyzstan, the technical specifications of the Bombardier Q400 aircraft were taken into account. However, there are other models of small aircraft in the world that can operate in such conditions.
Moreover, he emphasized that the ability to accept aircraft is influenced not only by the length of the runways but also by various other factors, including the availability of navigation equipment and weather conditions.
