Kyrgyzstan and Swiss SICPA Launch Gold Mining Control System
In Bishkek, a working meeting took place between Alambet Shykmamatov, the Chairman of the State Tax Service of the Kyrgyz Republic, and representatives of the Swiss company SICPA SA, known for its technologies in the field of product protection and traceability systems. The press service of the STS reported on this event.
Participants in the event included Philippe Amon, Chairman of the Board and CEO of SICPA SA, as well as Jean-Philippe Godin, Director of Strategic Development, and other company employees, alongside representatives from the structural divisions of the STS.
The main focus of the meeting was on issues of cooperation in implementing a system that allows for tracking the extraction of gold and related minerals, taking into account the specifics of the Kyrgyz Republic. This system will help organize the work of artisanal mines, improve sampling processes, and control the supply chains of ore and gold, which will aid in combating the illegal trade of these resources.
Shykmamatov noted that the implementation of a gold traceability system is one of the key and strategically important tasks for Kyrgyzstan.
“Our country has many deposits and companies engaged in gold mining. However, the lack of effective control mechanisms leads to risks of data distortion, including the concealment of actual extraction volumes by some unscrupulous participants,” emphasized Alambet Shykmamatov.
He also added that significant preparatory work has already been carried out in collaboration with SICPA SA. A working group has been established, a roadmap has been developed, and a necessary foundation has been formed for the practical implementation of the project. The parties are ready to sign the relevant documents.
Philippe Amon, CEO of SICPA SA, expressed support for the STS initiative to implement a monitoring system in the gold mining sector and noted the importance of the meeting held.
He also mentioned that the successful implementation of this project will serve as a basis for future joint initiatives and will allow for the expansion of cooperation in the field of other minerals.
It is worth noting that SICPA SA is a Swiss technology company that specializes in protecting banknotes, documents, and goods from counterfeiting and illegal circulation.
