Almambet Shykmamatov discussed with the management of SICPA SA the issues of implementing a gold traceability system.
In Kyrgyzstan, the Chairman of the State Tax Service, Alambet Shykmamatov, held a working meeting with representatives of the Swiss company SICPA SA, known for its developments in protective technologies and product traceability systems.
Among the participants in the meeting were the Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of SICPA SA, Philippe Amon, the Director of Strategic Development, Jean-Philippe Godin, as well as other key company employees and heads of divisions of the State Tax Service.
The main focus of the meeting was on cooperation in creating a traceability system for gold extraction and related minerals, adapted to the conditions of the Kyrgyz Republic. This innovation aims to streamline the operations of artisanal mines, improve sampling practices, ensure control over the supply of ore and gold, and combat the illegal trade of these resources.
Shykmamatov noted that the implementation of the gold traceability system is a key and strategically important direction for the country.
“Kyrgyzstan has significant gold reserves and many companies engaged in its extraction. However, the lack of effective traceability mechanisms can lead to data distortion and concealment of extraction volumes by unscrupulous market players,” he added.
The head of the State Tax Service also emphasized that significant preparatory work has already been carried out in collaboration with SICPA SA. A working group has been created, a roadmap project has been developed, and the necessary foundation for the practical implementation of the project has been formed. The parties are ready to proceed to the signing of the necessary documents.
Philippe Amon, CEO of SICPA SA, expressed satisfaction with the meeting and supported the State Tax Service's decision to implement a monitoring system in the gold mining sector.
He also added that the successful implementation of this project will create a foundation for new joint initiatives and allow for the expansion of cooperation, including the implementation of similar solutions for other types of minerals.
It is worth noting that SICPA SA is a Swiss technology company that specializes in protecting banknotes, documents, and goods from counterfeiting and illegal circulation.
