"We consider Central Asia as a long-term partner"
At the ongoing international business forum in Tashkent dedicated to agro-innovations, Italy's Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Forestry Francesco Lollobrigida outlined plans to develop cooperation with Central Asia in the fields of agriculture, technology, and sustainable development.
According to the minister, Italy demonstrates a steady interest in this region, which confirms its strategic approach to expanding partnership relations. The main areas of focus are economic cooperation, food security, and the implementation of innovative technologies in the agro-sector.
Lollobrigida noted that the forum has become a valuable venue for establishing direct connections between companies and discussing specific projects. The Italian side is particularly interested in areas such as industry, energy, water resource management, and agriculture.
The minister emphasized the importance of food security, stressing that each country should have the opportunity to shape its agricultural policy, support farmers, and provide the population with high-quality food products.
Italy, with its extensive experience in the agricultural sector and developed scientific base, is ready to share its technologies and knowledge. This includes the implementation of genomic technologies, the digitalization of agriculture, as well as the development of sustainable production methods and the breeding of crops capable of withstanding climate change.
Additionally, the minister highlighted the importance of mechanization in the agricultural sector. The Italian agricultural machinery industry, including the manufacturers' association FederUnacoma, exports its products to more than 180 countries and offers solutions for various types of farms.
There was also an emphasis on the development of educational programs and scientific cooperation, particularly regarding an agreement between Uzbekistan and Toshi University aimed at expanding academic exchanges and training specialists.
In conclusion, Lollobrigida emphasized that Italy sees Central Asia as a strategic partner and is focused on long-term cooperation aimed at sustainable development, the implementation of innovations, and the realization of joint investment projects.
