- This year, the sowing campaign in Kyrgyzstan began two weeks earlier than last year. This was reported by Bolotbek Tashtanov, head of the Department of Water Policy and Drinking Water Supply of the Ministry of Agriculture, on the radio.

According to him, in 2025, it is planned to sow about 1 million 250 thousand hectares, which is 40 thousand hectares more than in the same period last year.

Currently, cereals, potatoes, and vegetables have been sown on an area of 66 thousand hectares, while last year this figure was only 25 thousand hectares, noted Tashtanov.

In particular, according to his data, wheat occupies 41 thousand hectares, barley — 45 thousand hectares, and potatoes — about 5 thousand hectares. Active sowing work is being carried out in the Batken, Osh, Jalal-Abad, and Chui regions. In the Issyk-Kul and Talas regions, sowing is just beginning, while in the Naryn region, work has not yet started.

The provision of seeds for cereal crops is 88%, while for other crops it is about 90%. There are 86 seed farms operating in the republic, which provide subsidies of 30% on seeds of wheat, barley, potatoes, corn, and alfalfa.

Since the beginning of the year, nearly 35 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers have been imported into the country, and about 10 thousand tons are currently available. Deliveries are ongoing, and the cost of fertilizers ranges from 24 to 35 soms per kilogram depending on the type.

The provision of pesticides is about 35%, while annual supplies exceed demand, and there is no shortage. The technical provision reaches 90% — there are more than 90 thousand units of agricultural machinery in the country, of which about 22 thousand are involved in spring fieldwork.

The annual demand for fuel and lubricants is 42 thousand tons of diesel fuel and 19 thousand tons of gasoline. According to oil traders, there is enough fuel at gas stations. Additionally, 7 thousand tons of fuel have been allocated from material reserves at a preferential price of 74 soms per liter.

About 15 million seedlings, including strawberries, raspberries, and apple trees, have also been prepared for the season. There are 22 nurseries operating in the country.

According to Tashtanov, spring fieldwork is proceeding according to plan. Headquarters have been established in the regions to help farmers promptly resolve emerging issues.
