Mass vaccination of livestock and pets has begun in Kyrgyzstan

In Kyrgyzstan, the season of spring preventive measures aimed at combating animal diseases has begun. According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic, vaccination of heifers aged 3 to 6 months against brucellosis has started in the regions, and blood samples are being taken from cattle for laboratory analysis for the presence of this disease.

Special attention is being paid to the safety of pets: veterinarians are vaccinating dogs and cats against rabies, and also starting work on deworming against echinococcosis. As part of this campaign, sheep and goats are being vaccinated against sheep pox and brucellosis, while cattle are vaccinated against sheep pox, anthrax, and pasteurellosis. All activities are fully funded by the state budget.

To maintain a stable epizootic situation in 2026, all territorial veterinary services have been fully supplied with the necessary biological preparations, antihelminthics, and disinfectants. This year, 135 million soms have been allocated from the republican budget for the purchase of veterinary drugs. Special refrigeration equipment has been installed in the regions for the proper storage of medications.

The action plan has been developed taking into account the livestock population in each region and has been coordinated with local authorities. Currently, the relevant agency is strengthening control over compliance with veterinary standards for the storage of vaccines, as well as monitoring their quality and rational use by specialists on the ground.
