As part of his working trip to the Osh region, the Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Erlis Akunbekov visited a site located in Dangi, in the rural district of Dostuk in the Aravan region.
The trip was also attended by the presidential envoy in the Osh region Amanakan Kenjebayev and the akim of the Aravan district state administration Daniyar Erkimbaev. The delegation familiarized themselves with the site where the construction of a reservoir is planned.
The Ministry of Agriculture reports that discussions about this project have been ongoing for several years, but its implementation has not yet taken place. The construction of the reservoir will contribute to improving irrigation in the region and provide new opportunities for agricultural development.
As noted by the deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Aigul Akhmedova, the successful implementation of the project will allow for the development of an additional 5-6 thousand hectares of land and provide farmers with reliable irrigation water supply. Furthermore, it will create conditions for the construction of small hydropower plants and the development of fisheries.
Akunbekov, in turn, instructed the relevant state bodies to promptly review the project and expedite the preparatory work. He emphasized that the construction of the reservoir will play a key role in enhancing the agricultural potential of the region and improving the living conditions of local residents.
In this regard, the relevant agencies have been tasked with completing the preparatory procedures as quickly as possible and commencing construction work.
