At a national meeting, the Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Erlis Akunbekov, emphasized important aspects in the field of energy.
He noted that Kyrgyzstan is entering a new stage in the development of its energy system.
Currently, a number of measures are being implemented to modernize and expand the country's energy infrastructure.
In 2025, the installed capacity increased by 213.6 MW due to the replacement of hydro units at the Toktogul and Uch-Korgon hydropower plants, as well as the commissioning of eight small hydropower plants with a total capacity of 44.6 MW and a solar power plant with a capacity of 100 MW in the Kemin district.
Additionally, last year, a transmission line for the CASA-1000 project, connecting Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, was put into operation.
Currently, work is ongoing to install a second unit with a capacity of 120 MW at the Kambar-Ata HPP-2.
“In 2026, we plan to commission 13 small hydropower plants with a total capacity of 80.6 MW and solar power plants with a capacity of 850 MW,” he added.
