Today, February 27, at a national meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, Erlis Akunbekov, presented a report on the results of the real sector of the economy for 2025, as well as outlined the main indicators and directions for further growth.

He emphasized that in 2025, the real sector showed confident growth rates and strengthened production potential. In 2026, priority will be given to increasing production volumes, modernizing infrastructure, and improving the competitiveness of domestic products.

According to Akunbekov, agriculture contributes about 10% to the country's GDP and provides employment for 20% of the active population. In 2024, the gross output amounted to 396.8 billion soms, and by the end of 2025, it increased to 459.7 billion soms, representing a growth of almost 63 billion soms.

“We strive to increase productivity and transform the agricultural sector into a modern, competitive, and market-oriented industry. In recent years, state support has been increasing, preferential lending programs have been implemented, and in 2025, 12.6 billion soms were allocated for these purposes. The material and technical base is significantly strengthening: the fleet of agricultural machinery has expanded to 92,000 units,” he noted.

Akunbekov also reported that in the field of irrigation, infrastructure modernization continues. In 2025, 4,455 hectares of new irrigated land were put into operation, which is 22 times higher than the level of 2024. 1.7 billion soms were allocated for the development of irrigation, within which design work is being carried out on 41 facilities and construction on 33. Clean drinking water was provided to 40 settlements, ensuring access to water for more than 75,000 people. For these purposes, 3.7 billion soms were allocated from the budget, and water supply systems are being constructed in 25 cities and 601 villages.

In his speech, Akunbekov also touched upon the topic of the energy sector.

“Kyrgyzstan is entering a new phase of energy development. A set of measures is being implemented to modernize and expand the energy infrastructure. In 2025, installed capacity increased by 213.6 MW due to the replacement of hydro units at the Toktogul and Uch-Korgon HPPs, as well as the commissioning of 8 small HPPs with a total capacity of 44.6 MW and a solar power plant with a capacity of 100 MW in the Kemin region. Also, in 2025, the CASA-1000 power transmission line between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan was put into operation. In 2026, it is planned to commission 13 small HPPs with a total capacity of 80.6 MW and solar power plants with a capacity of 850 MW,” he added.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the mining industry shows stable growth and makes a significant contribution to the budget. In 2024, tax revenues from mining companies amounted to 41.5 billion soms, and in 2025, it was 65.4 billion soms, which is 58% more.

Akunbekov also reported on the results of work in the construction sector. In 2025, 3.5 million square meters of facilities were put into operation, while in 2024, it was 2.0 million square meters. Last year, 291 social facilities were commissioned, which is 61 more than in 2024. Among the commissioned facilities are 129 schools, 60 kindergartens, 26 healthcare facilities, 35 cultural and sports facilities, as well as 41 social infrastructure facilities. As of 2025, the register of construction projects includes 3,814 new facilities (in 2024, there were 3,567).

As part of the housing program "My Home," 40.2 billion soms were allocated for construction in 2025, which is twice as much as in 2024. Currently, 80,660 apartments are under construction, which will significantly expand the housing stock.

The Deputy Prime Minister also spoke about the development of transport infrastructure. In 2025, more than 1,545 km of asphalt concrete pavement were laid, which is twice the figure for 2024. 43.4 billion soms were allocated for the development of road infrastructure. The Balykchy-Kochkor railway has been completed to the Kochkor station, with 43 km of main structures built. The construction of the Barskoon-Bedel highway, 150 km long, began in August 2025.

Touching on the aviation sector, Akunbekov noted that the country's airports purchased three aircraft for 2 billion 385 million soms using their own funds. Plans include replenishing the fleet with a Q400 model aircraft and acquiring two Airbus A321s. 8 billion 400 million soms were allocated for the modernization of domestic airport infrastructure. Currently, 11 airports are certified and operating normally.

It should be noted that a national meeting is taking place at "Yntymak Ordo," where the results of 2025 are being summarized with the participation of President Sadyr Japarov.

Members of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of state institutions, authorized representatives of the president in the regions, mayors of Bishkek and Osh, as well as district akims are also participating in the event.
