Donors allocate $40.8 million for various projects in the Kyrgyz Republic. The ЖК Committee approved the agreements.
Among the approved projects is the construction of a bridge over the Naryn River on the Bishkek - Osh highway. Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Ulukbek Janibekov noted that this bill is aimed at improving transport communication between Kyrgyzstan and its neighbors.
According to the deputy minister, the new bridge will be built in the Toktogul district at the 315th kilometer of the Bishkek - Osh highway. The existing bridge, which was built 50 years ago, has already exhausted its resources, so it needs to be replaced. The Japanese government is allocating a grant of 3 billion 190 million yen for these purposes, which is equivalent to approximately $20.4 million, he added.
The project also includes the construction of 3.2 km of roads and two elevated bridges in Osh, funded by the Eurasian Development Bank. Janibekov reported that the total cost of the project is $19.2 million, of which $14.15 million is a loan from the EDB, $1.2 million is a grant, and the remaining $3.9 million is co-financing from the state budget.
In addition, Minister of Energy Talaybek Ibraev announced a grant of $1.15 million from Japan, allocated for the construction of a new educational center for training specialists in the energy sector and operators of NESK. The completion of construction is expected in April 2027.
The committee members approved all projects without discussions.
