Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan agreed to strengthen trade, logistics, and tourism

The first meeting of the Intergovernmental Council between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan took place in Bishkek.


In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Council was held, where the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Adylbek Kasymaliev, met with the Prime Minister of Tajikistan, Kohir Rasulzoda. The press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported this event.

During the meeting, Kasymaliev expressed readiness to increase the volume of supplies of meat and dairy products, coal, sewing and textile products, sugar, and glass products. He also proposed to develop a "roadmap" to enhance trade turnover. In addition, it was suggested to open Trade Houses of Kyrgyzstan in Tajikistan and Tajikistan in Kyrgyzstan.

The discussions also touched upon issues of transport and logistics cooperation, modernization of checkpoints, and infrastructure at the border. Kyrgyzstan was identified as a potential "trade gateway" for Tajik goods to the markets of the EAEU and the EU.

According to data, in 2025, Kyrgyzstan will be visited by 86,000 tourists from Tajikistan, which is 12 times more compared to the previous year. The Kyrgyz side expressed interest in joint tourism initiatives and the introduction of a unified visa for Central Asian countries.

Kohir Rasulzoda, in turn, confirmed the Tajik side's readiness to fulfill the agreements reached and emphasized that the Intergovernmental Council would serve as a platform for deepening cooperation in the fields of trade, energy, transport, and agriculture.

As a result of the meeting, the protocol of the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Council and a memorandum of understanding between "Kyrgyz Export" and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan were signed.
