
Kasymaliev noted that resolving border issues has historical significance and creates a solid foundation for strengthening friendly relations between the two countries. He emphasized that deepening cooperation with Tajikistan is a key priority of Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy.
The parties intend to focus in 2025 on restoring and activating trade and economic ties, as well as improving social and economic conditions for residents of border areas, while continuing to develop cooperation in all directions.
Last year, the trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan amounted to only $36 million, which shows almost a 24-fold increase compared to 2024.
The head of the Kyrgyz government also reported on the determination of both countries to achieve a trade turnover level of $500 million, expressing readiness to fulfill this task.
Kohir Rasulzoda, for his part, thanked the Kyrgyz side for the warm welcome and noted the importance of the first session of the intergovernmental council for strengthening bilateral ties in various fields.
The Prime Minister of Tajikistan emphasized that developing good-neighborly relations with Kyrgyzstan is a priority for his country and expressed the Tajik side's readiness to implement the set tasks.
During the discussions at the meeting, the parties touched upon important aspects of cooperation in the fields of trade, economy, and cultural-humanitarian relations.
