Kyrgyzstan Introduces Responsibility for Violating Halal Industry Standards
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan has initiated a draft law that proposes introducing liability for violations in the halal industry, including the production of halal products and the provision of halal services without the necessary certification. The agency plans to amend the Code of Administrative Offenses.
This law regulates the requirements related to the production, certification, and labeling of halal products. The new draft also introduces liability for certification bodies in case of violations of compliance confirmation rules.
In addition, the agency is actively working on improving the halal certification system, including the digitization of the certificate issuance process, increasing transparency in control and labeling, as well as strengthening oversight of production processes.
All these initiatives are aimed at protecting consumer rights and strengthening trust in halal products in the country.
It is worth noting that previously identified violations, such as the presence of pork DNA in several producers, have been addressed through the revision of processes and repeated laboratory tests.
