- For the effective functioning of an agricultural cooperative, it is necessary to unite at least seven participants and have land areas of at least 50 hectares. This was stated by Turat Idirisov, head of the Department of Crop Production, Horticulture, and Cooperation of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, in an interview on the radio.

Idirisov emphasized that such land sizes allow for the implementation of all necessary agronomic measures, including crop rotation, which in turn guarantees a stable income for the development of the cooperative. Furthermore, increasing land areas can significantly enhance the efficiency of the cooperative's operations.

According to the ministry representative, resource unification is possible not only through the joint use of land but also through cooperation in agricultural machinery, livestock, and other resources. As an example, he cited a case from the Naryn region, where about 20-30 families from one street registered a cooperative, combining tractors, agricultural equipment, farm buildings, and livestock.

Idirisov also noted that cooperatives can be formed on a production basis. For instance, in one of the villages in the Issyk-Kul region, almost all residents are engaged in berry cultivation. For their further development, it is necessary to legally register the cooperation and continue working, including using modern equipment such as drip irrigation systems.

Currently, preferential financing conditions are provided for agricultural cooperatives, including reduced interest rates for purchasing equipment for drip and sprinkler irrigation. Financial assistance can be obtained through mechanisms aimed at supporting cooperatives, including within the framework of the FOTUP programs.

Idirisov added that uniting farmers allows for the creation of the necessary volumes of products for processing and export. In particular, this year, the Chinese side expressed interest in importing Kyrgyz cherries in the amount of up to 10,000 tons. He also noted that a corresponding protocol for the export of this product has already been signed between Kyrgyzstan and China.
