According to information provided by the head of the Department of Crop Production, Horticulture, and Cooperation of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Turat Idirisov, during a radio program, in 2025, winter crops were sown in Kyrgyzstan at a level of 65% of the planned areas. It was expected to sow 250,000 hectares, but in fact, about 163,000 hectares were sown, which is 20,000 hectares more than last year's figures.

The ministry strongly recommends that farmers intensify the transition to winter sowing of grains such as wheat and barley. This will help reduce the burden on agricultural machinery, fertilizers, and water resources during spring fieldwork.

In addition, the department advises against leaving fields empty after harvest and encourages the practice of obtaining a second crop. In particular, this year in the Chui region, corn was sown as a second crop on an area of over 5,000 hectares, which yielded a good harvest. Next year, it is planned to increase the areas for the second crop.

Idirisov noted that in the southern regions of Kyrgyzstan, the second and even third crops have been successfully grown for many years. In northern regions, such as Chui and Talas, with the availability of irrigation water, it is also possible to cultivate a second crop, such as corn or vegetables, after harvesting winter crops in June-July.

After harvesting the second crop, farmers are recommended to carry out winter sowing. To maintain soil fertility, the ministry advises conducting soil analysis at least once a year and applying mineral fertilizers according to established norms to avoid negative impacts on plants, animals, and human health.
