Deputy: Farmers in the Talas Region Sell Beans Below Cost Price
He reminded that he had previously discussed this issue with the Minister of Agriculture Bakyt Torobaev, who promised to find solutions, but the situation continues to deteriorate.
“We understand that prices depend on global market quotations. Nevertheless, farmers are now forced to sell beans at extremely low prices just to survive. Current prices do not even cover the cost of production,” noted Jumabekov.
He also emphasized that such a situation threatens not only the current harvest but also the future of bean farming in the Talas region, which is the main producing area for this crop in Kyrgyzstan.
In the deputy's opinion, the government should intervene and provide real support to farmers through various measures, such as support mechanisms, product processing, and finding new markets.
