The Baluch Rights Movement (BNM) made a statement at the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council, calling for urgent measures against alleged violations in Balochistan, according to information from Akashvani News. In their fight for human rights, they accuse Pakistan of using anti-terrorism laws to suppress freedom of speech and to exert pressure on the local population.

Mahra Baluch, a representative of BNM, mentioned numerous cases of enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and restrictions on freedom of expression during the session in Geneva. She noted that the residents of the region "are subjected to collective punishment simply for existing."

According to Mahra Baluch, in 2025, there were 1,355 reported cases of abductions and 225 cases of killings.

BNM urges the international community to pressure the authorities of Pakistan to release those unlawfully detained and to conduct an independent investigation into the violations of human rights.
