In a statement from Larijani's office, it says: "I, the servant of God, have reunited with God." Larijani's death was also confirmed by Iranian President Masoud Pazeshkian, who promised to avenge his death. According to the president, "a cruel retribution awaits those terrorists who have stained their hands with the blood of the brave martyrs of Iran."
According to the Iranian agency Tasnim, one of Larijani's sons and his bodyguard also died as a result of the tragedy. The reasons for their deaths have not yet been disclosed by Iranian authorities.
Earlier, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz claimed that Larijani became a victim of an Israeli strike on Tehran.
Additionally, the Israel Defense Forces reported the death of the commander of the Basij paramilitary forces, Gholamreza Soleimani, in another incident. On Tuesday evening, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps officially confirmed his death.
