Ali Larijani
According to Kata, "Larijani and the commander of the Basij were eliminated in one night and have now joined the head of the destruction program Khamenei and other eliminated participants of the 'axis of evil'." This information was reported by the Times of Israel.
So far, Iranian authorities have not provided any comments on this matter.
According to information obtained from a source at Channel 12 in Israeli security services, on the day of the attack, March 16, it became known that Larijani was planning to visit one of his secret apartments in Tehran. He was there with his son when the attack occurred.
A source from the Israeli television channel noted: "After such a strike, he had no chance of survival."
The Israeli army (IDF) also confirmed that during a "targeted strike" in Tehran, the commander of the paramilitary Basij formation, Gholamreza Soleimani, was killed. This formation, subordinate to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), actively participates in suppressing protests against the government in Iran.
Ali Larijani became the highest-profile Iranian official killed since the death of the country's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. According to The New York Times, shortly before the strike, Larijani effectively led Iran, having received a task from Khamenei to suppress protests and prepare for a potential war. He also maintained connections with key partners of Iran, including Russia, Qatar, and Oman, and oversaw negotiations with the U.S. regarding the country's nuclear program.
